7 Days Later

So I stopped the cleanse the second full day in when my wife made delicious food. Weak, I know.

It was, however, South Beach Diet friendly so I didn't feel too terrible. From then on, I've been following South Beach as closely as possible. I'm now down to 192-193lbs, so it's working.

I've also been keeping track of everything I eat with the "Lose It" iPhone application, so that's proved to be very worthwhile. I just have to make sure I stay under 1700 calories per day and I'm on track to get to 170lbs by October.

Today was great, because I remembered how awesome Chipotle is. You can get chicken, fajita veggies, black beans, lettuce and cheese all in a delicious bowl. Normally, this is all put into a burrito with rice but I leave that stuff out. Very tasty and very calorie-efficient at about 340 calories. Even then, these calories are all South Beach Phase One approved. :)

Although the diet allows for essentially unlimited eggs, I've been eating about two for breakfast and then a couple for a snack during the work day. My only worry here is that my cholesterol doesnt' shoot through the roof and end up killing me prematurely. No point in losing weight if you won't be around to buy new clothes. :|

So yeah, overall the diet is going really well and I'm pleased with the results so far.

From 205lbs to 193lbs (12lbs) in one week isn't bad at all. I don't expect those kinds of results to continue but if I can do 6lbs/week, I can reach my 170lbs goal in about four more weeks and that is a really good feeling.

I've also been trying not to tell too many people as I'd rather they just see for themselves (more encouraging that way I suppose). On the other hand, the weight is disappearing from mysterious places as my body shape seems to stay the same overall. I suppose once I get down to 180lbs or so, I'll start to notice some sort of figure change.

We have a wedding to go to in September, so I'm hoping to look pretty fit for that. On the other hand, I'll have to get a new suit and (hopefully) a tailored shirt.

Day 1

Starting Weight: 205lbs
Morning Weight: 203lbs
Cleanse Goal Weight: 185lbs

The salt water flush didn't kick in until this morning and even that took a bit of effort on my part. In any case, I'm 2lbs lighter and hopefully more will come off by the end of the day. In terms of progress, I'm already 10% on my way to the primary goal of 185lbs.

While I did drive in to work today, I made it a point to do push-ups. Sadly, I only got to 11 before feeling strained. I'll try for 20 later on. The goal there is 100 in a set.

I feel fine so far, despite only having 5 hours of sleep. I'm starting to drink the lemonade again and it's not so bad. We'll see how I feel on day three.

The Night Before

So, I'm over 200lbs again. I weighed myself yesterday and I'm right around 203lbs.

At one point last year, I was at 186lbs on the 8th day of the Master Cleanse when I decided to stop and go back to a normal diet. I figured I could maintain my 186, but carbohydrates prevailed and here I sit.

To add insult to injury, Jesus lost a ton of weight and looks like a god damned model. He did it with the South Beach diet, sticking to it religiously. I'm not really sure how he perseveres but he manages to keep the weight off still. So that's kind of been my inspiration.

I'm planning to go 8-10 days this time on the Master Cleanse. While this, in and of itself, isn't easy, the real trouble will come afterward so it's important to have a plan for after as well as during. Right now, my after-plan is basically to follow South Beach phase one for as long as possible. 186lbs is nice, but I'd rather be down in the 160's.

As far back as I can remember, I've never been thin. I've been thin-ner but not thin in general. I used to weigh in at 175lbs and even then I had some love handles. I'd love to wear nice clothes and not have to choose the colors that best hide my fat.

I'd also love to wear a decent suit and not be at all embarrassed to take my shirt off around the pool. I'm not that shy about it now but it would be nice not to worry about it much at all.

Another thing I've noticed is that girls don't look at me the same way they used to. I don't know whether this is my imagination or if it's really because I've added on the pounds. It's a confidence booster when girls look at you and smile. :D

In any case -- for me, thinner works better. Of course, if I get too thin my eyes start to look really sunken in (that's one thing I remember from being a kid).

So anyway, I remember from last time I was biking to work while doing the cleanse. While I'm not saying I won't try and start it up again, I won't rely on it.

I'm thinking I might start the Hundred Push-Ups challenge again.

I just weighed myself again for the night and I'm 205lbs, more than I've ever weighed in my whole life. I'm sure some of it has to do with all the water I've consumed trying to do the salt water flush for the master cleanse, but still. The timing could not be more right.
